A few years ago, during an expressway construction project, we had to relocate our head office. During the site selection process, Osaka was chosen as the most promising location, for the following reasons: many of the business partners of our sales and back-office sections are concentrated in Osaka; also, a site around Osaka Station was regarded as the best possible choice, considering the frequent need for business trips between our head office and plants, many of which are located in western Japan.
Moreover, the Osaka City Government introduced us to an incentive program and provided other appropriate support services in a timely manner. We therefore decided that in the future we could expect to receive excellent administrative services in Osaka when needed, so chose to establish our head office in the City.

We began our business in the photographic processing field, but currently focus on the liquid crystal-related field, while expanding our scope of business to include the pharmaceutical-related area and mechatronics-related area. Our business concept is to pioneer laborsaving automatic machinery. We will promptly resolve any challenge brought to us by any industry. In terms of polarizing plate laminating machines, which are essential for the production of liquid crystal panels, we have anticipated user needs and realized technological innovations, thereby winning a 70% world-market share.
We will build our new main plant on our present premises in Osaka, to provide a better working environment for our employees. Using Osaka as a base, we will continue to expand our business to Asia and to the world, as a knowledge-intensive company.

The Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) at Carnegie Mellon University was invited by the City of Osaka to work on projects with industry leaders and to cultivate a relationship with universities. Since January 2008, ETC-JP technologists and artists have collaborated with industry engineers at Sharp Corporation (3 projects) and NEC’s C&C Innovation Research Laboratories (1 project) building interactive media content. A dialogue with Osaka University began with an ongoing exchange of ideas leading to future collaborative projects. The Osaka City government inclusive of IBPC has been instrumental in introducing ETC-JP to companies in the Kansai region and Tokyo.

Many factors influenced BBK’s decision to establish our first Asia-Pacific office in Osaka. The city is fast becoming the center of Japan’s biotechnology industry, and the prefectural and city governments have been undertaking numerous initiatives to help Osaka develop into a research hub for all of East Asia. Osaka is also an optimal location from which BBK - a patient recruitment and e-business solution company serving the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries - can operationalize our patient recruitment efforts on behalf of our clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Throughout the establishment process, IBPC, JETRO, and O-BIC provided tremendous assistance with visas, the company bank account, interpreters, meetings, etc., and for that BBK gives its thanks and deepest gratitude.

HBC-radiomatic Japan K.K. is a Japanese subsidiary of HBC-radiomatic GmbH, a Germany-based company with a 60-year history of developing and manufacturing radio control systems for industrial applications. Thanks to generous support from JETRO Osaka and IBPC Osaka from the preparatory stage of our business establishment in Japan, a sales and service facility was set up in Osaka this year for our entry to the Japanese market. For more than ten years, through its local distributors HBC-radiomatic GmbH has offered products and services in the Asian market, such as China and South Korea. However, the company established HBC-radiomatic Japan K.K. in Osaka as its first Asian subsidiary, mainly because thorough service can be provided for crane manufacturers and users concentrated in Osaka, by which entities our products are predominantly used. HBC-radiomatic Japan K.K. will strive to improve work site safety and efficiency throughout Japan, using Osaka as a foothold.

State-owned China Certification & Inspection (Group) Co., Ltd. (CCIC) is an inspection agency with 162 offices in China and 25 offices overseas. Its Japanese subsidiary, CCIC Japan Co., Ltd., was established in June 2005 in Osaka City, the center of the Kansai region, which is not only geographically close to China, but also a close trade partner for China. CCIC Japan provides pre-shipment inspection and other services for China-bound exports of plastic waste, metal waste and used paper, as well as for secondhand machinery and electrical equipment, demand for which is increasing in China each year. To meet the rapidly increasing demand for such resources from other Asian nations in recent years, CCIC Japan is working to establish an international resource recycling system. The company also promotes the international reuse of secondhand machinery and equipment from Japan and Southeast Asian nations, as businesses in increasing numbers shift their production to China.
