- Both domestic and imported (South Korean and Taiwanese) synthetic leather is proving popular as a material for autumn and winter clothing (1999~2000). - Next year the new \2,000 note will enter circulation in Japan, and numerous \2,000 products are being planned to coincide with its launch.
- \19,000 suits are creating a stir. Designed to be smart, simple and stylish, manufacturers of such suits are frequently being asked to open branches by department stores.
- Coated jeans are growing in popularity, and one in four pair of jeans is now coated. Although the surface of normal jeans tends to come off (which means the color fades) after frequent washing, this does not happen with coated jeans.
- The use of unpainted interior and exterior auto materials (e.g. using for the backing for rearview mirrors) is growing. Made from Nylon 6, target output in the first year (fiscal 1999) is 1,000 tons.
